Victory after fall break for the Capitol Bascats 1

Victory after fall break for the Capitol Bascats 1

After a two week pause for the fall holidays, the Capitol Bascats returned to action against DJK Southwest Cologne. Tip off was set for 19:00 in Dusseldorf.  This match would be a good tune up game for next week, in which the ladies will travel to Oberhausen to square off against another undefeated squad.  Additionally the ladies were happy to welcome back Centa Herrmann, who was playing her first game back after suffering an ACL injury last season. If there was any rust from almost three weeks without a game, it definitely did not show.  The ladies started the game with a bang and jumped out to a 29-3 lead.  Good defense led to many turnovers and fast break opportunities for the Bascats.  The first quarter ended with a score of 36-9, with already four three pointers from Kita Waller.  The second quarter continued how the first left off, with the Bascats getting contributions from every player. Good rebounding from the ladies ensured only one shot opportunity for their opponents.  The ladies once again held Cologne to only 9 points in the quarter, ending the half leading 66-18. The second half was slightly more balanced, as Cologne found more scoring opportunities.  However our ladies did a great job of sharing the ball to find the best shot in the half court offense.  Every player contributed, and everyone on the team was able to get on the score sheet. The ladies cruised to an easy 103-47 victory.  The upcoming week will be a tough week of training and final preparations for next weekend.  The ladies travel to Oberhausen where tip off is set for 19:00.
